United States President Donald Trump said his country will send more weapons to Ukraine to help it defend against Russian attacks.
"We're going to send more weapons. We need them," Trump told reporters at the White House.
"They need to be able to defend themselves. They are being hit very hard now," he said, adding that the US will mainly send defensive weapons.
The comments appear to reverse a Pentagon announcement last week that the US would temporarily halt the delivery of some air defence missiles and other weapons to Ukraine, due to concerns that US stockpiles were running low.
Ukraine has repeatedly asked the US to send it more Patriot missiles and systems, which it considers essential for protecting its cities from almost nightly Russian attacks.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky again referred to the need for more armaments during a speech on July 7.
"We are working especially with the American side on the relevant decisions regarding the Patriot systems and missiles for them," he said.
After a phone call with Trump on July 4, Zelensky said they had agreed to work to strengthen Kiev's ability "to defend the sky," at a time when Russian attacks have intensified.
He said he discussed with Trump joint defense production, procurement and investment.
After the call, Trump said Ukraine would need Patriot missiles, but during his address on July 7, he did not mention them.
Ukraine is defending itself against a full-scale Russian invasion, which began in February 2022.
Last night's attacks by Russian forces killed at least 11 civilians and wounded more than 80 others, including seven children, officials said.
Trump said he is determined to end the conflict and again expressed his growing frustration with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"I'm not happy with President Putin at all," Trump said.
He has previously threatened to impose new sanctions on the Russian oil industry in an attempt to push Putin to enter peace talks.
