Manchester United have identified Aurélien Tchouaméni as one of their main targets to replace Casemiro in midfield.
It has long been known that United's priority this summer is rebuilding the midfield, and according to "The Telegraph", the French international is being considered as a possible successor to Casemiro, who is expected to leave when his contract expires in the summer.
However, his future at Real Madrid could depend on Rodri's situation at Manchester City.
Rodri, whose contract expires at the end of next season, cast doubt on his future last month by saying "you can't turn down the best clubs in the world" when asked about a potential move to Real Madrid.
However, coach Pep Guardiola has stated that the Spanish midfielder is expected to renew his contract, although he would not mind if Madrid made an offer.
Tchouaméni is under contract until 2028, but reports from Spain suggest that Real are open to listening to offers for his teammate and national teammate, Eduardo Camavinga, as an alternative way to secure income.
The 26-year-old, who won the Champions League and La Liga during his time in Madrid, recently spoke about the difficulties he has encountered at the Bernabéu.
"I became a 'light culprit'. In the first 10-20 minutes, the stadium booed me every time I touched the ball. That situation either destroys you, or makes you think: 'this is it', and focus only on your performance," he said.
According to the report, United are looking to sign at least two midfielders this summer, and could even look to add a third if Manuel Ugarte leaves.
Meanwhile, both Manchester City and United are closely monitoring the development of Elliot Anderson, who currently plays for Nottingham Forest and is valued at around £100 million.
Since transferring from Newcastle United in 2024, he has become one of the most promising young midfielders in the Championship.
Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have also shown interest in Anderson, but a direct competition between City and United for his services is expected.
Adam Wharton has also been linked with a potential move to United, following impressive performances with Crystal Palace./Express newspaper/
