Gulf Arab states warned the UN Human Rights Council that they face an existential threat from Iran, after drone and missile attacks on civilian and energy infrastructure that have caused casualties and driven up oil prices.
Kuwait's ambassador said this aggressive approach violates international law and sovereignty, while other Gulf countries condemned Iran for spreading terror, Reuters writes.
Iran defended the attacks, claiming that over 1,500 civilians have been killed by the US and Israel, and warned of further retaliation.
The UN human rights chief, Volker Türk, warned that attacks on civilians could amount to war crimes and called for an immediate end to the conflict.
