A video released Friday as part of declassified files on UFOs during the Trump administration has sparked a huge debate online, as some commentators and religious figures have suggested that the mysterious object resembles beings described in the Bible.

The nearly two-minute footage, recorded in 2013, shows a luminous object that looks like an "eight-pointed star" moving rapidly in the darkness. Its shape appears unstable, with irregular protrusions that change as it moves.

Some religious leaders and American officials have suggested that the object may resemble cherubim, angelic beings who in biblical tradition are depicted with many wings, faces and eyes.

Texas pastor Josh Howerton wrote on Platform X that the eight-pointed object was reminiscent of the strange celestial structures described in the Book of Ezekiel. The book talks about luminous beings and “wheels within wheels” that move around the throne-chariot of God without turning.

Howerton said he was trying to point out a possible overlap between biblical cosmology and some of the imagery people are seeing on social media. Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna made a similar comparison, sharing an artistic illustration of a cherub online.

Vice President JD Vance has previously suggested that some UFO sightings may be more related to spiritual or supernatural forces than extraterrestrial life, viewing the phenomenon through a Christian perspective that also mentions demonic entities.

The video of the eight-pointed object was part of the first batch of long-awaited UFO files released on Friday, which included hundreds of previously unknown videos, photographs and documents.

On social media, some users compared the object to the seraphim described in the Book of Isaiah. In biblical tradition, seraphim are depicted as powerful heavenly beings who stand around the throne of God. The prophet Isaiah describes a vision in which each seraphim has six wings: two to cover their face, two to cover their feet, and two to fly, as they cry out: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty.”

These beings are depicted as bright, fearsome, and closely associated with divine power and judgment. In biblical interpretation, seraphim are often seen as a high order of angels, associated with fire, purity, and worship before God.

Howerton's post sparked widespread debate on X, especially after he quoted parts of Ezekiel 1:15-17, which describes wheels next to the living creatures, with an appearance like the brilliance of beryl and a construction "like a wheel within a wheel." According to the biblical text, they moved in four directions without turning while walking.

However, many users disputed this interpretation. Some pointed out that the object in the video appears to have eight wings, while biblical descriptions of seraphim speak of six. Others called the comparison excessive, saying that a luminous object in the sky cannot be immediately declared to be an angel.

Despite the controversy, the video remains unusual. It was captured by a military infrared camera and shows the object moving rapidly in the dark, with uneven protrusions that appear to change shape. At one point, the military sensor zooms in as the object speeds through the frame, appearing to leave a trail of light behind it.

The object is seen making sudden movements, changing direction rapidly, and disappearing from view several times, only to reappear moments later.

Officials who documented the video warned that the description of the footage is provided for informational purposes only and should not be interpreted as evidence of the nature or origin of the object.

The UFO files were made public several months after the president ordered Secretary of War Pete Hegseth to declassify government documents related to UFOs and alleged extraterrestrial activity.

Republican Representative Tim Burchett of Tennessee, who has long called for more transparency on the subject, wrote in X that federal authorities once said the files did not exist. He said the initial release is a big one, but compared to what is expected to come, it will seem like “a drop in the bucket.”

After the files were released on the War Department website, President Trump wrote on Truth Social that he had ordered the administration to identify and release government documents related to alien life, unidentified aerial phenomena, and unidentified flying objects. He said that, unlike previous administrations, this initiative aims for “complete and maximum transparency” so that the public can decide for themselves “what the hell is going on.” /GazetaExpress/
