Ship movement through the Strait of Hormuz continues to be paralyzed on Sunday.
Two tankers carrying liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) that were leaving the Persian Gulf have suddenly returned, according to ship tracking data, the Telegraph reports.
The two ships, identified by MarineTraffic as the Meda and the G Summer, were the only ones with active transponders passing through the waterway on Sunday.
Both ships had previously been sanctioned by the US while sailing under different names, for transporting Iranian LPG.
No other ships were seen passing in either direction, following Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announcement on Saturday that the Strait was once again closed to traffic.
The Meda is an Indian-owned and operated carrier that left a berth near the United Arab Emirates late Saturday. The Chinese-owned G Summer had left Kuwait.
Both returned south of Iran's Larak Island. Some context: The Iranian announcement came in response to US President Donald Trump's insistence that the US naval blockade of shipping using Iranian ports would continue - despite indications from Tehran that it was ready to ease restrictions on shipping. /Telegraph/
