A search operation is underway in the Caribbean for two sailing ships, the Friendship and the Tigger Moth, which set off on March 20 from Isla Mujeres, Mexico, bound for Cuba with nine crew members from Poland, France, Cuba and the US. There has been no communication from them and their arrival is unknown, the BBC reports.
The Mexican Navy is using all resources to find them, while Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel expressed concern and announced rescue efforts.
Cuba has been receiving humanitarian aid from Mexico in recent weeks due to the US blockade and power outages. Last week, another ship, the Granma 2.0, brought 14 tons of aid to the island.
