US President Donald Trump has announced that Lebanon and Israel have agreed to a 10-day ceasefire that will begin at 5pm EST (10pm BST), the BBC reported, Gazeta Express reports.
In his tweet announcing the ceasefire agreement, Trump says he spoke with both Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
His statement made no mention of Hezbollah, the Iranian-backed militant group in Lebanon with which Israel has exchanged fire.

“I just had excellent conversations with the highly respected President of Lebanon Joseph Aoun and Prime Minister of Israel Bibi Netanyahu.
"These two leaders have agreed that in order to achieve PEACE between their countries, they will officially begin a 10-day ARMS CRUISE at 5 PM EST."
"On Tuesday, the two countries met for the first time in 34 years here in Washington, DC, with our Great Secretary of State, Marco Rubio.
“I have directed Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Rubio, along with the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Dan Razin' Caine, to work with Israel and Lebanon to achieve a SUSTAINABLE PEACE.
“It has been my honor to resolve 9 wars around the world, and this will be the 10th, so let’s finish it! President DONALD J. TRUMP.”
