US President Donald Trump has said he plans to host a UFC event at the White House next year as part of celebrations for the 250th anniversary of America's independence.
Speaking at a rally in Iowa, Trump said UFC president Dana White would build the event, which would include a "championship fight" in front of an audience of 20,000 to 25,000 people.
"We're going to have a UFC fight on the White House grounds. We have a lot of land there. Dana will make it happen," Trump said.
The UFC has yet to officially confirm the event, but its president, Dana White, shared a video of Trump's announcement on social media with the caption "this is going to be epic."
The UFC's official Instagram account also posted the video, asking followers: "Who would you like to see in the evening's headliner?"
Trump has a close friendship with Dana White, who has been a key supporter during Trump's 2024 presidential campaign.
He has attended several UFC events during his two terms as president, and was most recently in attendance at UFC 316 in New Jersey last month.
Trump's speech in Iowa was the first in a series of events that will mark the 250th anniversary of the signing of America's Declaration of Independence.
