For the second time during the press conference on March 3, Trump was talking about the United States' relationship with the United Kingdom.
He says Spain has been "very uncooperative", and that the United Kingdom has acted similarly.
"This second one is shocking, but this is not the era of Churchill," he says, referring to British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
Referring again to the Chagos Islands, Trump called them "stupid islands... that they [Great Britain] forgave."
Great Britain "took a hundred-year lease, which probably has to do with indigenous populations who claim the islands as their own, who had never even seen these islands. What does that mean? They broke off relations; it's a shame."
He says he "loves" the United Kingdom, but criticizes British energy and immigration policies, which he calls "terrible."
Trump said he is "very disappointed" with the UK over London's refusal to allow the United States to use British military bases, including the strategic one on Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean, in first strikes against Iran.
He said Spain has been "grossly incompetent and uncooperative" and has instructed Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to "cut off all trade with Spain."/Radio Free Europe
