US President Donald Trump threatened to reduce US troops in Germany.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, in a brief statement to the media, stressed the importance of "trustworthy transatlantic cooperation." His statement comes amid an ongoing clash with US President Donald Trump over the tense situation in Iran.
During a visit to a military training center in northern Germany, Merz declared that in "particularly turbulent times" Germany is being guided by a "clear strategic compass."
"This compass remains oriented towards a united NATO and a reliable transatlantic partnership," the German Chancellor said.
