US President Donald Trump has changed his stance on war against Iran, declaring that US and Israeli operations are "much earlier than initially predicted."
In a phone interview with CBS News, Trump said he believes the war is almost over. He added: “They have no fleet, they have no communications, they have no air force. Their missiles are destroyed, drones are exploding everywhere, even in the factories where they are made.”
Trump also stressed that they have nothing left from a military perspective.
Regarding Mojtaba Khamenei, who is replacing his father as Iran's supreme leader, he said: "I have no message for him. Absolutely none," adding that he has someone else in mind to lead the country.
Regarding navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, Trump stated that the US could take multiple actions and threatened Iran if it obstructs navigation.
"They threw all the ammunition they had and they better not try to do any 'smart' action, otherwise it will be the end of this country... If they do something bad, it will be the end of Iran and you will never hear its name again," he said, Panorama reported.
The president also said the Strait of Hormuz is now open and claimed that ships have entered the area, although he added that he is still "thinking about checking it."
He expressed optimism about the duration of the war, in contrast to his initial prediction that the conflict could last about a month. “We are well ahead of schedule,” Trump told CBS News, noting that the war is “almost over.”
At the same time, the US Department of War published on Platform X that "we have just begun to fight and that we will show no mercy."
