Trepça has continued its dominance in the Kosovo basketball elite, being declared champions for the third year in a row. The Mitrovica team secured the title on Wednesday night at the “Sezai Surroi” gym in Prizren, where they defeated Bashkimi with a convincing score of 98:78 in the fourth final of the “play-off”.

With this victory, Trepça closed the final series with a clean score of 4:0, giving the Prizren team no chance to come back. For the "Xehetare" this is the seventh title in the club's history and the third in a row, confirming their dominance in Kosovar basketball.

Thanks to this triumph, Trepça now becomes the second most successful team in Kosovo basketball history, surpassing Peja, which has six titles. Sigal Prishtina remains in the lead with 14 championship titles.

Trepça has won the championship titles in 1993, 2000, 2001, 2012, 2024, 2025 and 2026, while this success places the club from Mitrovica in a golden period of its history.

Bashkimi, on the other hand, remains with one championship title, won in 2018. The Prizren team was a finalist in the previous edition, but was defeated by Trepça even then.

The final series started at the “Minatori” gym in Mitrovica, where Trepça won the first two games with the scores 84:79 and 93:83, in an extraordinary atmosphere with over three thousand spectators in the stands. The third game was held at “Sezai Surroi”, where the gym was full and the local fans created a fiery atmosphere, but this did not help the basketball players of the Union, as Trepça triumphed 84:80.

In the fourth final, Bashkimi started the match better, quickly building a 9:0 lead and then 11:2. However, coach Adis Beqiragić's team reacted quickly, tied the score at 13:13 five minutes before the end of the first quarter and then took the lead, which they did not let go until the end.

Trepça ended the first quarter with a 30:22 advantage, while at halftime they went with a 12-point lead, 52:40. In the second half, the Mitrovica team deepened the score even further. After the third quarter, the score was 77:63, while in the end Trepça celebrated a deep victory 98:78.

Trepça had some key players. Akili Vining scored 13 points, while Drilon Hajrizi and Ja'Cori Payne each added 12 points. Mikaile Tmushiq contributed 11 points, six rebounds and two assists, while Mustapha Amzil and Kenneth Hasbrouck finished the game with ten points each. Shawn Jones had nine points and five rebounds.

For Bashkimi, the best was Ike Nwamu with 18 points, four rebounds and three assists, but his performance was not enough to avoid defeat.

On the way to the title, Trepça eliminated Peja in the semi-finals of the “play-off”, while Bashkimi reached the final after triumphing over Bora Prishtina. However, in the decisive series, the Mitrovica team showed more quality, experience and stability.

This title comes just a few months after Trepça had also won the Kosovo Cup, against Bakskim, for the fifth time in a row and the ninth in history. With two more trophies in one season, the "Xehetarë" close the season as the dominant team in Kosovo basketball. /GazetaExpress/
