A tragic event has shocked English football, as a fan died in the stands during a match, while fans' cries for help failed to change his fate.
Stadiums in England were hit by this serious incident on Saturday, when a fan suffered a medical emergency while watching the match from the stands.
Blackpool FC have confirmed the death of fan Graham Charman, who suffered a serious medical condition during the match against Peterborough United at Bloomfield Road. The game was abandoned in the second half after fans in the North Stand raised the alarm.
According to reports from The Sun, medical teams immediately intervened on the north side of the West Stand to provide first aid to the fan, but unfortunately he passed away despite immediate efforts.
In an official statement, Blackpool FC said: "It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of supporter Graham Charman, who suffered a medical emergency during the second half of Saturday's match at Bloomfield Road.
"Despite the best efforts of the medical team, Graham sadly passed away. The club has contacted his family and will continue to be by their side. Our deepest condolences go out to his loved ones at this difficult time. Rest in peace, Graham."
After the match, the coaches of both teams expressed their respect and sorrow for the deceased. Blackpool coach, Ian Evatt, said:
"There are more important things than football. My thoughts and prayers are with the man who came to watch a match and ended up having a heart attack. There are bigger things than football and it's important to keep things in perspective."
Peterborough manager Luke Williams added: "Something very disturbing happened in the stands. Our thoughts are with the family; it's deeply sad."
