The Minister of Internal Affairs, Pance Toshkovski, is on a working visit to Washington, within the framework of the second session of the North Macedonia-US Strategic Dialogue, a process considered extremely important for advancing national and public security.
During the visit, Toshkovski held several meetings with senior representatives of American security institutions, including Nikolas Kolura, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State and Director of the Diplomatic Security Service (DSS), Kristoder G. Raja, Deputy Director of the FBI, Gregory Ducott, Director of ICITAP, and David M. Berard, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs.
At the meeting, as announced by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, it was concluded that North Macedonia is known as a reliable operational security partner of the United States of America, with which cooperation is deepening in concrete areas of common interest.
"These meetings send a clear message that North Macedonia is recognized as a reliable partner of the US, with which a deep and concrete cooperation is being built in key security areas," emphasized Minister Toshkovski.
The focus of the talks was on the fight against human trafficking, illegal drug trade, transnational organized crime, strengthening border security, and confronting terrorism.
The continued support through the ICITAP program for the Ministry of Internal Affairs was particularly emphasized, especially in terms of strengthening institutional capacities, training and modernization, including improving the work of the police academy.
"Support from our American partners, especially through ICITAP, plays a key role in modernizing the police and strengthening our capacities to face contemporary security challenges," Toshkovski emphasized.
The visit, as emphasized in the announcement, once again confirms the strategic determination to deepen the partnership with the United States of America and to jointly face security challenges, while in the coming period, further intensification and strengthening of cooperation in all key areas is expected.
