A Manchester United player is set to leave in the summer in a deal worth around £38m.
Since Michael Carrick replaced Ruben Amorim, United's form has improved significantly.
So far, Carrick has won six games, drawn one and lost one of his eight games in charge of the Red Devils.
The team is on track to finish the season in the top four and return to the Champions League. In their last match, United were defeated 2-1 by Newcastle United at St James' Park.
Ahead of the Premier League clash against Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon, a transfer update has arrived.
Napoli are reportedly ready to activate the purchase option on Rasmus Højlund's loan deal, which is worth €44m (around £38m).
Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano wrote on social media:
“Napoli will activate the €44m buyout clause for Rasmus Højlund, as has always been reported. Director Manna confirms: 'There is no doubt. Rasmus will stay here. We have an obligation to buy him from United if we secure Champions League qualification — but he is in our plans regardless of that condition.'”
So far in the 2025/26 season, Højlund has scored 14 goals and provided four assists in 36 matches in all competitions.
In December 2025, the Danish striker revealed that the English club had made it clear to him that he was not part of the plans for the season.
In an interview with Sports Illustrated he said: "United made it very clear to me that I was not part of the plans for this season, especially without European football. I'm young and I need to play football, so this was a good opportunity for me."
He added: "Napoli saw an opportunity to take me and as soon as I heard their interest, I made it very clear to my people that I only wanted to go there."
