Rafael Leao has publicly saluted his close friend and long-time teammate, Theo Hernandez, who is on the verge of officially leaving Milan to join Simone Inzaghi at Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia.
Both players joined the Rossoneri in the same transfer window in the summer of 2019 and have since formed a powerful partnership on the left wing, producing memorable performances for Milan fans.
After six years at San Siro, Theo is set to make a permanent move to Al-Hilal for a reported fee of €25m, down from a reported €40m just six months ago. The Frenchman is now in the final year of his contract with Milan, which has hastened his departure.
Although the transfer has not yet been made official, Leao has published an emotional farewell message on social media, honoring the special relationship he has shared with Theo over the years.
"My brother, my friend in many battles," Leao wrote on his Instagram profile.
"We have been through many good and difficult moments together, but it has been a pleasure to share the field with you, my brother. I wish you all the luck in the world for this new phase. I will miss you very much because you are an important person to me. It was not supposed to end like this, but life is full of challenges. Good luck on your new journey. As always, I will always support you – and I will always support THEAO!"
Theo's departure marks the end of an era on the left wing at Milan, where he and Leao were among the most feared duos in Italian football. Fans will miss him, but a new chapter is beginning for both of them./Express newspaper/
