A woman decided to install a camera for her dog to check on the animals while she was at work – and was amazed to see what her Labrador, Rambo, was doing.
Rambo was left at home with the new rescue dog while the owners were at work. The animal-loving woman, Mare, and her husband had decided to adopt a dog from a shelter that was “days away from euthanasia.” These shelters, known as kill shelters, take in any abandoned animal, regardless of their behavior or health. When capacity is reached, shelters are often forced to euthanize some animals to make room for others.
Mare wanted to save her young dog, Charlie, from this disaster. She told Newsweek: "Our shelter dog, Charlie, was days away from being euthanized at a shelter in Oklahoma. Our local shelter took him in and brought him to us in Illinois."
Charlie had spent about a week at the shelter, but was struggling to adjust to life in a cell. When Mare and her husband met him, they fell in love immediately and brought him home to join their black Labrador, Rambo.

After the couple had to return to work the next day, Mare set up a camera to monitor the dogs during the day. When she reviewed the footage, she was moved to tears by what she saw.
In the video, posted on TikTok, Charlie is seen resting nervously on his dog bed. Rambo approaches, climbs onto the bed, turns to sit next to him, and sits down next to Charlie.
Charlie sniffs Rambo carefully, then seems to calm down more. They look calm and comfortable.
Mare added the text above the video: "Seeing your Labrador calm down the new shelter dog while you're at work," while in the post's description she used a crying emoji to express the emotions the footage provoked.
In the comments, other TikTok users immediately reacted. One viewer wrote: "They should be friends forever. I know it's part of adoption, but it's sad and heartwarming!"
Mare confirmed: "We adopted him today! They will be best friends forever!" /GazetaExpress/
