Europe is facing a new wave of extreme weather, with scorching temperatures, wildfires and storms. Germany is one of the countries hardest hit by the dramatic contrast between heat and bad weather. On Wednesday and today, temperatures in some areas reached 40°C, significantly increasing the risk of forest fires and triggering numerous warnings from authorities.

While the sun is scorching much of the country, some southern regions around Lake Constance have been hit by unexpected hailstorms. In the municipality of Sipplingen, hail reached sizes of up to five centimeters, damaging cars and blocking roads. Emergency teams used special vehicles to clear the roads of the unusual hail for a summer day, writes A2 CNN.

Germany's National Weather Service warned of possible flooding, strong winds of up to 90 km/h and heavy rainfall accompanying these storms. In the north of the country, heat waves have also damaged infrastructure, causing some sections of highway to buckle and endangering drivers.

In the Harz, one of the most popular forest areas, several fires have been reported that spread rapidly due to extreme temperatures and dryness. Around 150 firefighters are engaged in containing the flames, while unexpected rainfall is expected to help extinguish them.

Experts point out that this contrast between scorching heat and violent storms is a direct indicator of climate change.
