MP Rijad Shaqiri has reacted harshly to the leadership of the Constitutional Court of North Macedonia, accusing its head of irresponsible actions and deviation from the constitutional role of the institution.
According to Shaqiri, when the Constitutional Court is headed by a person who acts "with instincts and not with institutional responsibility," the interpretation of the Constitution risks turning into an arbitrary act.
He emphasizes that instead of protecting the constitutional order, it can be violated by the very ones who have the duty to protect it.
"The moment the Constitution is not respected by those who have the duty to protect it, the rule of law collapses. And when the rule of law falls, anarchy and injustice take its place," Shaqiri declared.
His statement comes during a period of intense political and legal debates about the role and decisions of the Constitutional Court in the country.
