Former Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani was invited to the Pressing on T7 last night, where she spoke about a number of issues after the end of her mandate. From the European Union sanctions against Kosovo, to the latter's relations with the United States of America, to Osmani's own relations with Prime Minister Albin Kurti, these were some of the things the former president gave her comments on.
Osmani, asked about the EU sanctions, said they were unfair, emphasizing that the attacks were carried out by Serbian gangs.
"The sanctions were completely unfair, imposed on Kosovo despite the fact that the attack that day in 2023 came from Serbian gangs directed from Belgrade. Then there were misunderstandings between the Government and our allies. We managed to eliminate those misunderstandings by discussing with our allies and in December those measures were lifted," she declared last night.
Osmani also spoke about relations with the US, saying that the latter supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Kosovo.
The former president said that, in the congratulatory letter for the 18th anniversary of Kosovo's Independence, received by US President Donald Trump, it is emphasized that the US strongly supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Kosovo.
There is no mention of "dialogue with Serbia, nor association...", "we have achieved this with a lot of work," Osmani added.
"We need this, to move forward with America," Osmani emphasized.
"A written guarantee, confirmed by President Trump, that the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Kosovo will not be affected," said Osmani, adding that this position has never been stronger.
Osmani also said yesterday that with America's help, Serbia's sinister plans were prevented even after the attack in Banjska.
She said that when the attack occurred, she was making phone calls at 3 in the morning.
"We have a country on our side, it is America. This was also proven on Banjska Day and everyone who works in institutions knows very well what I am talking about. It was also proven when Ibër Lepenci was attacked and all institutions know very well who we called at 3 in the morning on the phone, who came to our aid and who hung up on us", Osmani said in Pressing.
"Our institutions know that the President of the Republic of Kosovo has addressed the White House to prevent very sinister plans that have been beyond Banjska, so it was not only Banjska that was in danger. We have managed to prevent sinister plans in communication with America," Osmani added last night, according to Express.
The former president also spoke about her relations with Prime Minister Kurti, saying that the latter had praised her for representing Kosovo abroad.
Therefore, she added, Kurti's stance that he wants a President who does not deal with foreign policy was a surprise to her.
"The notary has many powers, without the notary's signature nothing can be valid. I have only received high marks for representation abroad, for me his recent stance that he wants a President who does not deal with foreign policy was surprising," she said.
Last night, in addition to these, Osmani also spoke about the attacks made against her. Regarding them, the former president said that with other political parties, despite having differences, they have not gone as far with doses of lynching, adding that the more they increase the dose of lynching, the more they increase the work in the interest of Kosovo.
"We have had differences with different parties because they are evident since they are public, but they have never gone so far with lynching methods, which are dangerous. The more they do such things, I assure you, the more determined I become. The more they increase the dose of lynching, the more I increase the dose of working in the interest of Kosovo," said Osmani. /Gazeta Express
