Fire risk increases, Emergency Management Agency appeals for maximum caution during summer

The Emergency Management Agency has appealed for increased caution from citizens as the summer season begins, warning that high temperatures significantly increase the risk of fires spreading in open, mountainous and lowland areas. According to this institution, fire prevention is essential for the protection of human life, property, animals and the environment.

This agency has called on citizens to avoid any action that could cause fire, such as starting fires in nature or throwing flammable waste. It also requires the immediate reporting of any case to the emergency numbers 112, 193 and 192, as well as a commitment to help in cases where fires risk spreading.

The agency stressed that arson, whether intentional or negligent, constitutes a criminal offense and is punishable by law. The announcement calls for joint awareness and citizen cooperation, assessing that only through early response can the consequences be avoided and the environment protected.

"Dear citizens, as we have entered the summer season which is expected to be characterized by high air temperatures which increase the risk of the occurrence and rapid spread of fires in open, mountainous and plain areas, with the aim of avoiding the risk of fire, protecting the lives of citizens, property, animals and the environment."

WE APPEAL to all of you to be careful and vigilant in avoiding all possible causes of fire, to warn and report in time to the 24/7 toll-free emergency numbers 112, 193 and 192, as well as to help extinguish the fire, wherever it may appear and threaten, since such action is, among other things, required by the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo as well as other legal and sub-legal acts.

Special care:

• Do not light fires in forests, fields or near residential areas;

• Do not throw away lit cigarettes or garbage that could cause a fire;

• Report immediately to Numbers emergency of any fire to the local authorities or fire service;

• We educate children and young people about the dangers of playing with fire;

• We preserve the environment as a common asset for future generations.

Only with cooperation and shared awareness can we prevent tragedies and protect our nature.

Don't let carelessness turn into disaster. Act immediately and responsibly – for yourself, for your community, for Kosovo.

It is worth emphasizing and informing you that intentional arsons, as well as those caused by negligence, are criminal offenses that are sanctioned by law.
