No flag has been placed in the square of North Mitrovica to mark the 18th anniversary of Kosovo's Independence. The only flag seen in that area is placed near a cafeteria, while the city's public spaces lack Kosovo's state symbols, KosovaPress reports.
Unlike last year, when a solemn session was held in honor of February 17, this year no such session was organized in the northern municipalities. The return of the Serbian List to municipal institutions in the north has meant that there are no official activities to mark Independence Day.
Apart from the Serbian flags seen on the city streets, the lack of Kosovo flags has meant that the independence day passes without any symbolic signs in this part of the country.
