Rama said that the reopening of Tik-Tok after the 1-year lockdown was a previously announced decision and comes as a result of a serious review process and cooperation with the company.
According to the prime minister, today TikTok is accessible again because new security mechanisms have been put in place.
"This week, the Council of Ministers' decision to lift the TikTok blocking measure was also issued.
It is a decision that I announced when I explained on more than one occasion, not only here, but also in international media, that to our pleasant, positive surprise, TikTok was very open, was very active in building a dialogue with us, after we did the blocking.
And it's not TikTok that has taken us to court, but it's what to tell you what it is, who it is, you know who it is, that has taken us to court for TikTok as well. But what to say to that! So, what I had a warning about happened because with TikTok we have established, not only a communication, but we have also established a new basis and for this reason the Decision of the Council of Ministers is not a withdrawal, it is not a surrender and even less then it is not turning a blind eye as has been commented on by what I am told, but it is the result of a serious process, a review and a concrete work of real addressing of concerns about security and the necessary filters so that there is much more control in the good sense of the word, not censorship, but control over all activity and protection of children and the youngest, first and foremost.
"This was the purpose of the blocking, the public interest of protecting children. And this was the line of dialogue and today TikTok is accessible again because new security mechanisms have been put in place. There are new filters on content, there are effective controls and ways of reporting and dealing with violations that were not there before," Rama said.
