The Basic Prosecutor's Office in Pristina has issued a notice after a public official was caught taking a bribe.
He was arrested as a Civil Registration officer, the Prosecution has indicated.
By decision of the State Prosecutor, the suspect was detained for 48 hours.
"A public official is arrested for accepting bribes Prishtina, July 14, 2025 - The Basic Prosecution Office in Prishtina/Serious Crimes Department, informs the public that in close coordination and cooperation with the Kosovo Police - Economic Crimes and Corruption Investigation Unit, it has arrested a public official (Civil Registration Center), on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of ''Accepting Bribery'' under Article 421 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo."
"The same is suspected of having requested and accepted material benefit in exchange for an official service. By decision of the State Prosecutor, the suspect has been detained for forty-eight (48) hours. The Basic Prosecution Office in Pristina remains committed to strengthening the rule of law and fighting corruption as well as protecting the public interest," the Prosecution Office said in a statement. /Gazeta Express
