The Basic Prosecution Office in Peja has authorized the Kosovo Police Regional Investigations in Peja to undertake investigative actions regarding suspicions of abuses during the process of counting the votes of candidates within political entities.

According to the official announcement, the first authorization to launch investigations was issued on January 19 by the Chief Prosecutor of the Basic Prosecution Office in Peja, Ms. Lumturije Vuçetaj, while further actions are being carried out with the authorizations of prosecutors appointed by her, in close coordination with the Regional Investigations of the Kosovo Police.

"As of today, the process of interviewing commissioners regarding suspicions of abuse during the process of counting votes of candidates of political entities has begun, with the aim of clarifying and fully disclosing all the circumstances of this case," the Prosecutor's Office said in a statement.

Likewise, the Basic Prosecution Office in Peja has announced that, in close cooperation with the Kosovo Police, it will undertake all necessary legal and investigative actions to fully clarify the case and identify the responsible persons.

"The Basic Prosecution Office in Peja will keep the public informed regarding all further developments in this process," the announcement further states.

The investigations are still in the initial stages and authorities have not provided additional details regarding the subjects or the number of people involved.
