The Kosovo Police, specifically the Regional Police Directorate in Mitrovica North, launched investigations on July 30, 2025 regarding the statements of the president of the Kosovo Fishermen's Association, who had claimed in the media that submerged electrical wires had been observed in Lake Ujman, which, according to him, pose a danger to citizens.
In this regard, the same person was interviewed by the authorities as a witness, where he stated that during an operation to remove illegal boats, he had encountered wires in the water, which, according to him, could be dangerous if activated.
The Police also received a video regarding the case and immediately after receiving the information, the relevant water border control units undertook field checks.
The verification found that the wires are not connected to electricity and do not pose any risk to public safety.
Also, the Kosovo Police announces that there has been no previous report regarding this matter.
After analyzing all evidence and information, the Basic Prosecution Office in Mitrovica has concluded that there are no elements that constitute a criminal offense.
Police urge citizens not to feel worried or afraid, assuring that any suspicious case is treated with the utmost seriousness.
