The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, held consultative meetings today with the leaders of the parties Guxo, Alternativa, ZSP, KDTP, IRDK, SDS, JGS, PREBK, NDS and the VAKAT Coalition, within the framework of the new cycle of consultations for the constitution of the Assembly of Kosovo.
These meetings come after the recent Constitutional Court ruling in case KO124/25, which clearly establishes that the constitution of the Assembly must occur within 30 days, as a constitutional obligation and not a political option.
President Osmani emphasized that the implementation of this judgment is a constitutional obligation for everyone and asked political leaders to act in a spirit of cooperation and trust, in service of the citizen's interest and the functioning of the state.
She warned that the delays in the constitution are causing an institutional vacuum that harms democracy and hinders the normal functioning of the state. As the guarantor of constitutional order and the unity of the people, Osmani pledged to continue meetings with representatives of other parliamentary parties in the coming days, to find a solution within the deadline set by the Constitutional Court.
We emphasize that the Democratic Party of Kosovo has submitted today to the Constitutional Court the official request for the assessment of the constitutionality of the actions taken during the constitutive session of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo held on June 29 and its continuations on July 1 and 3, 2025.
In the submitted request, PDK requested the Constitutional Court to:
• To declare the decision on the vote of the Secret Ballot Committee unconstitutional;
• To declare the decision to suspend the constitutive session unconstitutional;
• To order the Assembly to continue the constitutive session until its conclusion with the election of the Speaker of the Assembly, through open and transparent voting, as required by the Constitution and parliamentary practice.
