The Collective for Feminist Thought and Action, together with the organization "Përpjekja", have called for a protest against the announcements of an increase in the price of electricity, which will begin tomorrow at 13:00 PM in front of KEDS, and end in front of the Government of Kosovo, reports Ekonomia Online.
In an interview with Ekonomia Online regarding this protest, activist Qëndresa Hyseni announced that the protest will last two hours and invited citizens to join the opposition to the electricity price hike.
"Yes, the protest will be held on Friday from 13:00. It starts at the KEDS building and continues to the Government. As for support, for every citizen it is very important that electricity bills do not increase, so anyone who sees it as reasonable and essential not to increase electricity bills and the price of electricity, is welcome to join the protest," Hyseni declared.
She emphasized that citizen opposition to this decision is necessary, as the increase in energy prices directly affects daily life.
"It is very important for us as citizens not to stop demanding that the decision to increase the price of electricity not be made, because this automatically affects the quality of life and the cost of living, which will increase if the electricity bill increases by 20%," she said.
According to Hysen, Friday's protest is just the beginning of other civic actions.
"This protest will be the start of other actions until our demands are met and the decision is suspended. The protest is for all citizens, and everyone has the right to protest in the way they see fit and necessary," Hyseni emphasized.
She also clarified that the protest is not partisan in nature and is organized by civil society.
"The protest is organized by a group of civil society activists. It is not a party protest, so we do not expect or cooperate with political party actors," she said.
Hyseni also spoke about expectations regarding citizen participation in the protest.
"Given the citizen reaction, it is considered that there will be a sufficient number, but this remains to be seen on Friday when all the people who wanted to protest against the increase in electricity prices come together. The protest will last from 13:00 PM to 15:00 PM," Hyseni declared.
