The Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship, Trade and Innovation (MINTI) said that today it has imposed a fine of 30,000 euros on KEDS, due to the finding of six electricity meters with expired verification periods.
"This action was taken as part of the ongoing activities of verifying electricity meters throughout the territory of the Republic of Kosovo," the Ministry said.
MINTI added that the Verification Commission is continuing its field work in the seven regions of the country, with the aim of identifying and addressing any irregularities.
"The results so far from the laboratory analyses conducted at the Kosovo Metrology Agency have identified inaccuracies in the recording of the time and date on the tested meters. In this regard, MINTI has officially submitted a request to KESCO for compensation for damaged customers and will continue to follow up on a daily basis with the relevant reports as supporting evidence for this process."
At the same time, the Verification Commission is in close cooperation with the Prosecutor's Office and investigative bodies for the further handling of this issue.
"MINTI remains committed to full transparency and will inform citizens on a regular basis about any developments, in order to protect consumers and address their complaints."
