Harvey Weinstein is currently in the hospital for health reasons, but his fight with justice continues
Former powerful producer Harvey Weinstein has been found guilty of another sexual assault charge by a jury in New York, further sealing the downfall of one of Hollywood's most notorious names.
This latest decision comes after an appeals court overturned his previous conviction, raising concerns about the fairness of the trial in 2020.
The current trial lasted six weeks and included the testimony of three women who shared for the first time, and in public, their experiences with the producer who for years used his power as a tool of manipulation. Miriam Haley, a former television assistant, was one of the women who shocked the courtroom with her confession.
The jury found Weinstein guilty of assaulting her, while he was found not guilty for model Kaya Sokola, and there is still no final verdict for actress Jessica Mann.
The 72-year-old is currently in hospital for health reasons, but his fight with justice continues. He still has a 16-year sentence for sex crimes in Los Angeles that he has not yet started serving.
With this new decision, it becomes clear that the era of impunity in the film industry is being dismantled, perhaps slowly, but with an increasingly loud voice.
