The largest FIBA ​​Congress was held in Bahrain, with more than 350 guests, including 167 delegates, a record number of participation from National Federations.

The President of the Kosovo Basketball Federation (KBF), Arben Fetahu, and the Secretary General of the Kosovo Basketball Federation, Elvira Dushku, also participated in this Congress on May 16 and 17.

The President of the FBK, Arben Fetahu, held a special presentation at the FIBA ​​World Congress, where he shared with the global community the experience and successes of the FBK in drafting and implementing the 2021–2025 Strategic Plan, in partnership with FIBA.

For the first time, the Kosovo Basketball Federation has been invited to present at an event of this level as a model of success in strategic planning, an extremely important moment for sports in Kosovo.

The participation of the FBK with this successful presentation is a clear testament to Kosovo's growing reputation in the international basketball arena, as well as our commitment to a sustainable and inclusive development of the sport.

International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach contributed welcoming remarks via video, followed by a speech by FIBA ​​President Sheikh Saud Ali Al Thani.

FIBA Secretary General Andreas Zagklis gave delegates an update on FIBA's strategy for the current cycle, also continuing the theme of highlighting the sport's growing popularity.

This included the success and exposure it enjoyed in the run-up to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games – as well as the growing appeal of the women's game.

Meanwhile, for the first time, 14 FIBA ​​competition trophies were on display at the event, and the impressive collection of silverware underscored the global nature of the sport and the importance of this year's various Continental Cups and U19 World Cups.

A series of amendments to the FIBA ​​General Statutes were also approved by the Congress.

Afterwards, delegates could learn more about the new services currently available to National Federations and were introduced to several major initiatives, including the official launch of the FIBA ​​Academy, FIBA's digital transformation, the expansion of eFIBA and the introduction of AI-powered solutions for digital and media asset management.

Representatives from 167 National Federations were involved in the many sessions on the second day. This followed learning about a range of new services for National Federations on the first day of the congress.

Declared as the number one growth area for the sport and also one of FIBA's Strategic Priorities, there was a session dedicated to unlocking the power of women's basketball.

This was framed around the importance of global integration and a commitment to empowering individuals both on and off the field.

With a focus on fan engagement and the key role that National Federations play, the session highlighted actionable strategies to further elevate the women's basketball movement worldwide.

There was also a session on FIBA ​​Plus, which is helping to shape the future of the sport in its capacity as an umbrella for all the National Federation's development initiatives.

The sessions provided participants with a comprehensive overview of programs designed to meet the specific needs of National Federations, complemented by insights from the Kosovo Basketball Federation, who shared their direct experience with the initiative.

Other activities were conducted regarding access to and benefit from Olympic Solidarity funds, as well as understanding NCAA Developments in player compensation, particularly the impacts on FIBA ​​stakeholders and recommendations for the future.
