After the conclusion of the closing statements, the hearing continued today with questions from the panel of judges.
And after several questions were asked, the Specialized Prosecutor's Office asked about the fact that Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi had surrendered themselves after the indictment was filed.
"Does the SPO dispute the fact that the defense teams did not refer to the voluntary mitigating factor at all?" asked Judge Fergal Gaynor.
But according to the ZPS, this doesn't matter much.
"The SPO does not dispute that Thaçi, Veseli, Selimi and Krasniqi surrendered voluntarily, but this factor should not have any great importance in terms of mitigating their position. I would like to refer to the Criminal Court, according to which, in the judgment for Rrahman, it is stated that the voluntary surrender of the accused is not a mitigating factor," the prosecutor declared.
