The Democratic Union for Integration (DUI) has reacted to the Prime Minister's statement regarding the issue of taking the jurisprudence exam in the Albanian language, describing it as an attempt to evade institutional responsibility. The party says that the Prime Minister's statement that it is an "inherited problem" is unfounded, as according to them it is a right that stems directly from the Constitution and the Law on the Use of Languages. "The Prime Minister's statement that the issue of taking the jurisprudence exam in the Albanian language is an 'inherited problem' is an attempt to evade responsibility for the non-implementation of a right that stems directly from the Constitution and the Law on the Use of Languages," the DUI said in its response.
This party emphasizes that the Albanian language is an official language in the Republic of North Macedonia and that this status is not a matter of political interpretation, but a constitutional and legal reality that must be respected by all institutions. “The Albanian language is an official language in the Republic of North Macedonia. This is not a political interpretation, but a constitutional and legal reality that must be respected by every state institution,” the reaction further states. DUI recalls that the Law on the Use of Languages was adopted precisely to guarantee linguistic equality and to strengthen the multiethnic character of the state. “Attempts to present this law as a 'problem' or to transfer responsibility to others serve neither the truth nor the institutional stability of the country,” the party emphasizes. The reaction also states that Albanian students are not asking for privileges, but for the implementation of existing laws. “Albanian students are not asking for privileges.
They only demand the implementation of the Constitution and the laws in force", emphasizes the DUI. This party adds that the Government has a legal obligation to ensure the implementation of linguistic rights and that any delay in this regard constitutes a step back for democratic standards. "The Government has an obligation to implement the law, not to relativize it through political justifications. Any delay or obstacle in the realization of this right constitutes a step back for equality and for the democratic standards of the state", states the reaction.
Finally, DUI recalls that the Republic of North Macedonia is built on the principle of equality between communities and respect for linguistic rights. “The Republic of North Macedonia is built on the principle of equality between communities and respect for linguistic rights. These principles are not negotiable and cannot be treated as 'inherited problems', but as obligations that must be implemented,” the DUI response states.
