The government, at its meeting today, has selected Nenad Saveski as its proposal for the new Chief Prosecutor. The decision taken by the executive will now be sent to the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia, where at least 61 votes are needed for its approval.
Nenad Saveski will succeed Ljupco Kocevski, who submitted an irrevocable resignation in December last year, on the day when the Parliament was supposed to decide on his dismissal.
Previously, the Council of Public Prosecutors had given a positive opinion on four candidates: prosecutor Lençe Ristoska, current acting chief prosecutor Anita Topolova-Isajllovska, prosecutor Lidija Raiçevikj, and judge Nenad Saveski, who received a positive assessment from all ten members of the Council.
The procedure for selecting the Chief Prosecutor began with the announcement of the vacancy by the Assembly on January 12, with a 15-day application deadline. Candidates must have at least 10 years of continuous experience as prosecutors or judges in the field of criminal justice.
