North Macedonia in January 2026 recorded a decrease in exports of 8.27% and a decrease in imports of 6.37%, compared to January of the previous year, reports Portalb.mk.
"The total value of exports of goods from the Republic of North Macedonia for the period from January to December 2026 is 530,668,000 euros, while the value of imports is 794,893,000 euros," reports the State Statistical Office.
"In the period from January 2026, according to the total volume of foreign trade, the largest share of trade was done with Germany, Great Britain, China, Greece and Serbia, which participate with 52.0% of the total exchange volume," the Agency reported, adding that "European Union member countries are represented with 57.1% in the total exchange."
The largest exports were of catalysts, while the largest imports were of petroleum oils, metals and their alloys.
In January, there was a border crossing blockade for freight transporters at the border points of North Macedonia. Similar blockades have also occurred in several countries in the region.
These blockades have come as a sign of protest regarding the stance of transporters in the Schengen area.
