The Deputy Speaker of the Kosovo Assembly from the Vetëvendosje Movement, Albulena Haxhiu, has announced the launch of procedures for the formation of the new Government, led by Albin Kurti, emphasizing that contacts have already begun with MPs from various parliamentary groups.
"We will start with procedures for the mandate holder, Albin Kurti, who will lead the Kurti 3 government. Kurti is the most voted person ever in the Republic of Kosovo. We are interested in starting procedures as soon as possible and will continue communications with other MPs," Haxhiu declared from the Parliament lobby.
She added that there may be MPs from other parliamentary groups who will join this process and did not rule out the possibility of forming a new coalition. However, Haxhiu stressed that Vetëvendosje does not rule out the possibility of holding extraordinary elections, if the political blockade continues.
The Deputy Speaker of the Assembly also reacted to the positions of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), expressing surprise at the statements of the Speaker Memli Krasniqi regarding the election of Nenad Rashiq as Deputy Speaker of the Assembly.
"The PDK's stance is surprising. They never had a vote against the Serbian List. Today, we all had to be on the same page and not allow unclear stances towards the Serbian List, considering that it is directed from Belgrade," said Haxhiu.
She described the constitution of the Assembly as positive news and emphasized the importance of the fact that a vice president has now been elected who, according to her, represents the citizens and recognizes the Republic of Kosovo.
Commenting on the procedural delays, Haxhiu recalled that the first session was called by President Osmani and emphasized that it took more than four months of waiting due to the Constitutional Court's decision.
"PDK today proved that once again, with their intentions, they attempted not to constitute the Assembly. We believe that we should move forward with the formation of the government, but if this is not possible, then extraordinary elections are a real option," concluded Haxhiu.
