The President of Albania, Bajram Begaj, has expressed a message of condolences on the passing of former US Congressman Eliot Engel.
Begaj considers Engel a great friend of the Albanian people and a strong supporter of the Albanian cause in the United States of America.
"Today we lost Elliot Engel, a great friend of the Albanian people and always a strong voice. Thank you for everything you did for Kosovo and for our nation. Your name will forever remain in the memory and hearts of Albanians, as one of our most precious friends who stood by us in our most difficult days. Rest in peace," Begaj wrote in a post on the "X" platform.
Eliot Engel, one of the most prominent figures in American politics in Congress and a great friend of Albanians, passed away on Friday at the age of 79.
