Former President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, speaking about the moments before leaving for The Hague, on November 5, 2020.
He recalled that that morning he had told his family that he could face the journey to The Hague.
According to him, their reaction was painful, but also supportive, telling him to take care of his health and face the situation calmly.
"The night passed quickly. On November 5, 2020, in the morning I told Lume and Endrit, I called my parents and said 'they are saying that I should go to The Hague too'. They were very upset, they told me 'take care of your health, don't be upset about what comes to you from man, as God has written'. At 11:00 I held a press conference. The main message was 'not goodbye, but goodbye'. I returned to the office. My colleagues and administration staff looked upset. We took some pictures, they saw me off with applause and tears in their eyes. Endrit was clinging to my body, he was the last person I hugged," Thaçi said on the "Opinion" show.
