A serious incident shook the village of Balldren in Lezha today, where a gun attack took the lives of a married couple. The victims have been identified as Kreshnik and Gentjana Mujeci, 39 and 32 years old, respectively.
According to preliminary data, the couple was traveling in an Audi Q7 when they were shot with a barrage of bullets by unidentified individuals. Sources from the scene indicate that shots were fired at the vehicle. more than 30 bullets, causing the immediate death of both spouses.
The incident occurred at around 14:50 p.m., and the perpetrators fled the scene without leaving a trace. So far, no arrests have been made, while police have set up checkpoints and are continuing to search the area.
It is learned that specialists from the Serious Crimes sector have urgently arrived from Tirana, who are working in collaboration with the local police to fully unravel the assassination.
Investigative sources indicate that the victims had four children. It is suspected that the couple had just left a bar on the Lezhë-Shkodër highway and were heading towards their apartment, which is located about 30 minutes away from the scene of the incident, when they were shot while driving.
Meanwhile, it is learned that Kreshnik Mujeci was previously arrested, in October 2017, as a suspect in the murder of citizen Genci Mhillaj in Shkodra. At that time, he was charged with the criminal offense of "Premeditated Murder", committed in collaboration.
The commander of the Lezha Police, Arben Nasufi, has confirmed that the vehicle was hit by a barrage of bullets while it was moving.
"Today at around 14:15, the Lezha operations room received information about gunshots in Balldren. It was determined that while a vehicle was moving, it was shot with gunfire. Doctors have confirmed the loss of life of two people, a man and a woman.
"The news is very serious. An investigative group has been set up under the direction of the prosecutor, all operational actions are being carried out on the ground. We are working intensively, we are collecting every piece of evidence at the scene, with the aim of a full investigation, shedding light on the entire dynamics and discovering the perpetrators and holding them accountable.", said Nasuf.
