The Government of Kosovo has laid the foundation stone of the Industrial Park in the village of Frashër in Mitrovica, a project for which nearly 1 million euros will be invested, while over 30 million euros of investments are planned for 14 industrial parks across the country in the next three years.
Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti said that the investment in the Industrial Park in Frashër is part of the support for the economic development of Mitrovica and the creation of conditions for production and employment.
"In this way, we are paying off a small part of the large debt we have to Mitrovica, which gave so much development and culture not only to Kosovo, but also to the entire Albanian nation. And now we are returning this with an investment here in Frashër, in the total amount of nearly 1 million euros for this industrial park, in which various businesses from Mitrovica, from Kosovo, but also foreign investors can be located, so that productivity increases and employment increases," he said, according to the report.
Kurti added that the government aims to modernize infrastructure for manufacturing businesses and increase exports.
"The more businesses produce, the more conditions are created for increased exports and import substitution, for improved trade balance and for overall socio-economic progress. In the next three years, the Government of the Republic of Kosovo will invest over 30 million euros in 14 industrial parks across Kosovo, because we want the infrastructure for businesses that produce and employ to be as modern as possible. Here in Frashër, works have already started and basic infrastructure is being built, and after this basic infrastructure we will also have other infrastructure, which modernizes the industrial park and makes it attractive for businesses," he said.
The acting Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship, Trade and Innovation, Mimoza Kusari Lila, said that the government's focus is on increasing local production and developing value-added industries.
"We as a government, as a ministry, are determined to work directly on improving the trade balance, on replacing imports with local products, but also on establishing Kosovo as a country in which there are value-added products. Products that do not compete with countries in terms of mass, such as those that produce products with a large number of workers, but those that have added value. Therefore, it is envisaged that in this park there will be manufacturing companies that are in the field of technology, in the field of innovation, and technology and innovation are present in the entire industrial spectrum, but we should also now add the component of the clean economy," she said.
The Mayor of Mitrovica, Faton Peci, said that the municipality aims to create more favorable conditions for investors and businesses.
"My commitment as the first of Mitrovica has been and is on a daily basis, to create more favorable conditions and circumstances for doing business, starting from infrastructural opportunities and physical spaces or the allocation of plots, which is one of the first requirements of every investor or businessman who wants to increase capacity or come to Kosovo to invest. And Mitrovica as a municipality, at this stage and with the unreserved support of the government of the Republic of Kosovo, the prime minister and ministers, his subordinates, has the ideal opportunity to transform into one of the most developed cities as it has been in the past. Currently, the trends and level of development of our municipality is not at the appropriate and satisfactory level, our ambition is to continue", he said.
The inauguration ceremony of the works and laying the cornerstone of the Industrial Park was organized by the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship, Trade and Innovation.
