KFOR Commander Ozkan Ulutash has stated that the security situation in Kosovo since October 2025 has been generally calm, although it remains fragile and with the potential for new tensions, especially in the north of the country.
During a briefing for ambassadors of NATO allies and partners in Brussels on Wednesday, Ulutash stressed that NATO continues to support KFOR's daily efforts to maintain a safe and secure environment for all communities in Kosovo, as well as to guarantee freedom of movement.
Ulutash stated that no resurgence of violence has been observed in the north, as occurred in 2023.
"Since October 2025, we have observed that the situation is generally calm. However, the situation remains fragile, with the potential for new tensions, especially in the north," he stressed, adding that the main priority remains maintaining stability for all communities.
Ulutash underlined that KFOR maintains a visible, agile and flexible presence on the ground, to react to any development that may affect security in Kosovo and regional stability, as well as to reduce tensions in the event of signs of escalation.
He expressed gratitude to NATO allies and partners for their continued support, emphasizing that KFOR remains committed to implementing its mandate fully and impartially.
At the same time, the KFOR commander announced that the mission continues to maintain close contacts with all relevant actors, while supporting the dialogue facilitated by the European Union for the normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina as the only solution.
