The Mayor of Prizren, Shaqir Totaj, said that municipalities still do not have the budget for use that was approved last month at their disposal.
"Despite the fact that the 2026 budget has been approved by the Government and decreed by the Presidency, even though we are in mid-March, the municipalities still do not have it available for use!" said Totaj.
Totaj also said that it is suspected that the Ministry of Finance "has allocated an approximate value of around 100 million euros for the execution of enforcement payments from the municipal budget!".
He said that this way of acting by the Ministry will result in the disruption of the functioning of municipal budgets.
The Kosovo Assembly approved in February the law on the state budget worth around 4 billion euros for 2026.
