A few days ago, the diary book, "The Drama of Survival", part one, by author Sabri Morina, was published.
Author Morina had kept this diary consistently, day by day, marking the most important developments in the country, politically, and the efforts of Albanians in the years to defend the autonomy of 1974, and then the beginning of the independence process.
Those were some of the most dramatic and difficult days leading up to the start of the war. Albanians were persecuted, beaten and killed, expelled from work and institutions because they no longer obeyed the occupying Serbian regime.
The diary, in addition to local cases of development in the Municipality of Kamenica, including the recording of family events, which are also a reflection of customs and traditions, summarizes the evidence in chronic form of all the main political developments in the country, such as mass protests, the murders of Albanians by the Belgrade regime, starting with the murders of Albanian soldiers, who were still serving in the Yugoslav army according to their obligations, then as the main events the organization of the "Parallel State", the referendum for "Independence", the manner and positions held by the media, the way the state managed to function, the negative role of Albanians, who continued to serve the Yugoslav communist regime, etc.
It can also be freely called a peace diary, even though it has a very intriguing and descriptive title about the oppression that Albanians experienced from an ever-increasing criminal regime of violence and aggression against ethnicities that demanded equality, democracy, and independence!
The first part of the diary, published on 325 pages, B5 format, describes the years 1988, 1989 and 1990. It begins on January 1, 1988 and ends with entries for December 31, 1990.
Sabri Morina is a professor of Albanian language and literature. He was one of the main protagonists in the events of that time, accurately and faithfully recorded in the diary. He was also the director of education for many years in the municipality of Kamenica, as the director of the "Ismail Qemali" high school and then for seven years the director of the Directorate of Education in Kamenica.
