The German Embassy in Kosovo has reported on the visit to Kosovo of the Director for the Western Balkans, Turkey, the Council of Europe and the OSCE of the German Federal Foreign Ministry, Michael Reiffenstuel, on August 10 and 11.
Among other things, it tells about the meetings he had with heads of state such as President Vjosa Osmani, Prime Minister Albin Kurti, whom the embassy refers to as "outgoing prime minister", as well as the leaders of the two opposition parties, Memli Krasniqi (PDK), and Lumir Abdixhiku (LDK).
He also had meetings with representatives of Kosovo Serb parties, civil society, and the KFOR commander.
He has called for the Constitutional Court's decision to be implemented as a way to end the political deadlock.
"In his meetings with Kosovo's political actors, he underlined the need to fully respect and implement the latest decision of the Constitutional Court in order to end the political deadlock. He also reiterated our expectations that all parties that meet the criteria can participate in the upcoming local elections," the statement said.
It is also emphasized that Germany provides support to the EU representative for the Western Balkans, Petar Sorensen.
"Mr. Reiffenstuel reiterated Germany's full support for EU Special Representative Peter Sörensen in his efforts to advance the EU-facilitated Normalization Dialogue. Kosovo's constructive engagement is essential for the success of Kosovo's EU integration, which Germany strongly supports," the embassy statement said. /Gazeta Express
