Prime Minister Albin Kurti expressed "deep concern" at the beginning of a government meeting, where he spoke about Serbian army exercises near the border.
He said that "Kosovo's institutions remain vigilant and ready to face any threat", while adding that "it is time for the international community to punish this destabilizing approach of Serbia that directly threatens regional security and peace".
Kurti said that it is "high time" for the democratic world to "take concrete steps" to protect Albanians in the Presheva Valley, whom he called on not to fall prey to provocations.
"These provocations near the border strip in Karaçevo by the unit of the 63rd paratrooper brigade of Serbia, through training with H145M helicopters and threats with parachutes a few meters from the border with the Republic of Kosovo, constitute a dangerous display of aggression. This display becomes even more alarming when we remember that the same unit trained and supported the group of criminal Milan Radoićić, who carried out the aggressive and terrorist attack in the village of Banjska, Zvečan, when they killed police sergeant, Afrim Bunjaku - the hero of Kosovo," he said.
Kurti said that "these military moves, combined with the inflammatory rhetoric of the President of Serbia, Vučić, that Serbia is preparing for a possible attack by a Croatia-Albania-Kosovo alliance, as well as the purchase of Chinese and Russian weapons, confirm that Serbia is using Russia as a tool of blackmail to keep the Balkan region under constant tension."
He mentioned the current security situation in the world, which he said is "extremely fragile," and said that Belgrade is exploiting this.
"Belgrade is using this moment to challenge the readiness of local and international security institutions and the stability of the Western Balkans in general, according to the interests of Serbia and its allies Russia and Iran, who want unrest, conflict and instability everywhere."
