There may be hope in the fight against hospital infections, after a major discovery at the EHT University in Zurich.
This comes after the death of a man who was seriously injured in the Crans Montana fire. He suffered an infection before he died, albinfo.ch reports.
The new development is a gel that blocks bacteria from entering a wound, then the gel kills the infection when ultraviolet light is shone on it.
Initial tests are proving positive, human tests are planned later.
