The Central Election Commission has approved the work plan for 2026. At the CEC meeting, it was stated that this document was prepared in accordance with the CEC Strategic Plan for the period 2023 - 2026, as well as based on the conclusions and recommendations obtained from the 2025 electoral processes.
This plan foresees the possibility of suspending its implementation in the event of early elections being announced.
"The holding of early or extraordinary elections makes it impossible to carry out the vast majority of planned activities, except for those that constitute legal obligations related to reporting or that stem from other laws in force. This provision ensures that the institution remains focused on its core responsibilities even in unplanned situations," the report states.
This is what Arianit Elshani from the Electoral Operations Council said to CEC members when this point was discussed.
"A work plan has been prepared in accordance with the approved CEC strategy for 2023 to 2026 within the framework of 5 strategic pillars. There are a total of 73 activities listed within the work plan, of course, budget limitations have been taken into account here, but also the possibility of risk and going to the elections," he said, among other things.
