The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Glauk Konjufca, has conducted a visit that he described as productive in Strasbourg, where he held meetings with senior officials of the Council of Europe.
Konjufca said he met with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Alain Berset, with whom he discussed advancing the membership process. He also met with the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), Petra Bayr, where Kosovo's commitment to democracy, human rights and the rule of law was reaffirmed.
During his stay in Strasbourg, Konjufca also met with other important officials of the Council of Europe structures, including Mathieu Mori, Frank Schwabe, Iulian Bulai, Knut Abraham and Piero Fassino.
He emphasized that Kosovo is ready for membership in the Council of Europe, considering this process as an important step towards strengthening the country's international position.
Productive visit to Strasbourg, I met with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Alain Berset, to discuss the accession process of Kosovo, as well as with the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Petra Bayr, to reconfirm Kosovo's commitment to democracy, human rights and the rule of law. Kosovo is ready to join the Council of Europe. It was also a pleasure to meet with the Secretary General of the Congress of the Council of Europe, Mathieu Mori; the President of the Socialist Group in PACE, Frank Schwabe; the President of ALDE in PACE, Iulian Bulai; the Vice-President of the EPP Group and at the same time the Head of the German Delegation in PACE, Knut Abraham; and the Chairman of the Subcommittee on the Western Balkans in PACE, Piero Fassino", he wrote in "X".
Glauk Konjufca, on April 16, held a conference together with his Belgian counterpart, Maxime Prevot, after their meeting. During this conference, among the topics Konjufca spoke about was Kosovo's membership in the Council of Europe.
Regarding Kosovo's non-membership in the Council of Europe so far, Konjufca had held the former EU envoy for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, responsible. The latter, Konjufca said, has imposed ''a pledge'' on Kosovo that does not belong to it regarding membership in the Council of Europe, which is the formation of the Association. /Gazeta Express
