Food Agency inspectors have imposed fines worth over 19.000 euros on unscrupulous traders during intensified inspections to prevent unsafe food on the market. 1.221 inspections were carried out, during which 272 kilograms of unsafe food, mainly of animal origin, as well as up to 40 tons of eggs originating from Serbia, were destroyed.
The inspections revealed a number of irregularities, including the sale of expired products, the use of frozen meat in the preparation of fresh products, and inappropriate food declarations. It was also found that seven entities operated without being registered as food operators with the Food Agency.
In three operators, it was confirmed that employees had not completed mandatory health checks and had not had the proper training for food handling. While in 13 facilities, inadequate hygienic and technical conditions were identified.
