The Democratic Union for Integration (DUI) has reacted sharply to recent political developments, demanding the immediate resignation of Izet Mexhiti from the position of mayor of the Municipality of Cair, as according to them, Prime Minister Hristjan Mickoski is holding the latter hostage with files that risk his imprisonment.
According to the DUI, the created situation constitutes a serious political and legal crisis, which, as claimed, is related to possible pressures and accusations of legal violations that directly harm the interests of citizens.
In this context, the party emphasizes that institutional accountability and transparency are essential for maintaining public trust and the functioning of the rule of law.

Not to hold the Albanian people hostage for their personal mistakes
The Democratic Union for Integration (DUI) expresses deep concern and civic indignation towards the unprecedented political and legal situation that is occurring on the political scene.
Credible sources confirm that Prime Minister Hristijan Mickovski keeps Izet Mexhiti under full control through a 320-page court file, which documents flagrant violations of the law in the field of illegal construction in Chair, violations that have caused direct damage to the municipal budget in the amount of 72 million euros.
This situation is not only a legal scandal, it is a political scandal of the first order.
The facts clearly show that the prosecution's file is not being used as a means of justice, but as a lever of pressure on the head of the Cair municipality.
Mexhiti, surrounded by this sword of Damocles, continues to stand in his position, placing personal interest above the interest of the Albanian people and the citizens of Çair.
DUI emphasizes that 72 million euros in damage to the municipal budget is not an abstract figure, it is hospitals that have not been created, unpaved roads, kindergartens and schools that have not been built, and citizens impoverished by irresponsible and dubious management.
Every day that Mexhiti stays in office is one more day that the Albanian people in Çair bear the weight of his mistakes.
We refuse to accept the idea that an individual and his personal legal issues can hold the entire Albanian issue hostage.
Mexhit has no right to expose the citizens of Chair to the political consequences of his manipulations.
He had the opportunity to defend himself, but not by hiding behind his mandate and behind our community.
For these reasons, the DUI branch of Chair demands that Izet Mexhiti immediately resign from the position of mayor of Chair, and that he be individually confronted with the legal charges against him, as required by every elementary standard of democracy and honest governance.
Justice is not negotiable.
The Albanian people in Çair deserve leaders who serve the community with integrity, not individuals who use their mandate as a personal shield against the law.
DUI will continue to stand by the citizens and will fight for full accountability for every euro of the damaged budget of the Chair.
DUI calls on all political forces, institutions and public opinion to stand together in defense of the interests of citizens and justice.
"Silence and inaction are complicity," say the DUI.
